What should we do in Calica/ Playa del Carmen for a day?

I am going on a cruise to Cozumel and Calica.. we are snorkeling/spear fishing in Cozumel.. so what should we do in Calica? I know there are some cool Mayan Ruins there, but that will only take up an hour of the day in Tulum.. any ideas?
