After updating an html file i receive a null at the top of my source code?

The only change i made was deleting an extra letter in my title. I try to delete the null located before my html tag but after saving and updating it just reappears? and i also noticed that an extra and appear at the end of my script. Can anyone explain this to me? I am using open edit software
